As the retail sector faces direct pressures from what effects consumers; rising unemployment, falling house prices leading to very little equity withdrawal and a squeeze on credit on a micro level, each have put downward pressures on disposable income and therefore retail spending.

The second half of 2009 is likely to see a surge in small and medium sized distressed merger and acquisition (M&A) deals across some sectors of the leisure industry.
