The stamp duty land tax holiday introduced in September 2008 for acquisitions of residential property of not more than £175,000 from 3 September 2008 to 3 September 2009 will be extended to 31 December 2009.
A car scrappage scheme will be introduced with effect from May 2009 where owners of cars aged over ten years old can trade them in for a new car. An incentive of £2,000 will be offered, of which £1,000 will be funded by the Government. The scheme will run until March 2010 and will apply to people who have owned their cars, including vans, for at least twelve months.
